In Sale the question is usually where the boiler can go rather than which one, and the answer is decided by the party wall and the front door.
A Victorian terrace has two party walls and not much else. That matters because a boiler is not silent — it hums, the pump hums, and a nine-inch solid brick wall carries that straight into the next house. We will not mount a boiler on a party wall behind someone's headboard if there is any alternative, and where there genuinely is not, it goes on proper anti-vibration mounts. It is a small thing that costs nothing at install and prevents a long-running problem between neighbours.
Flue positioning in a terrace is tight. You cannot discharge over a boundary and you have to hold the required clearances from every opening — and in a terrace, some of those openings belong to other people. In practice the flue usually goes out the back into the yard, and where the yard is narrow the position needs working out on site rather than assumed from the street.
Access decides the day. No side entry means the old boiler comes out through the hall and the new one goes in the same way, along with any radiators, and the spoil goes back out again past the front door. It is entirely doable — it is just a longer day than the same job on a driveway, and a quote that ignores it is a quote that will change.
Sale has more rented property than anywhere else we work, so a fair share of our boiler jobs here are for landlords: gas safety records, work scheduled between tenancies, and tenants who need to know when the water is off. We are used to it — it just needs organising rather than improvising.
The housing stock here, what it means for heating generally, and the other work we do in Sale — all on one page rather than repeated across this one.
It can, but we would rather it did not. Solid Victorian brick carries pump noise straight into the next house. If there is no alternative we fit it on anti-vibration mounts. It costs nothing at install and saves a lot of awkwardness later.
Yes, and a lot of what we do in Sale is exactly that. Gas safety records, work booked between tenancies where possible, and clear notice to the tenant about when the water and heating are off.

Leaks & repairsWe find the leak before we open the floor, not after.

Sale is a short drive from our yard in Altrincham, and we know this housing stock before we arrive — dense terraces, party walls, and no side access.
Every job here starts the same way: a survey, a heat loss calculation, and a fixed written price with no surprises.
Free survey, no obligation. We are in Sale most weeks — it is a short drive from the yard.
